WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

I'M THE GONZO BLOG GOO-DAH MAN

It is still a little chilly and windy but at least the sun is shining. We have a distinguished visitor - a famous Australian cryptozoologist - so as soon as I have finished blogifying we are packing him and mother into the car and taking him around the sights and scenes of North Devon.

In the meantime, check these out:
Michael Des Barres is a busy fellow these days. I am finding it hard to keep up with all his many and splendiferous media appearances like this interview. In the meantime, may I say how much I like his echinoderm hat (ever the zoologist)

Basically this next story is me explaining how the Gonzo scoop-it widget works and how you can embed it on your own website, but if you are viewing this story on scoop-it you probably already know all this, and if you are not...well, you should be!

My old mate Dave McMann has some news about Yes alumnus Billy Sherwood. As he so rightly says, we are particularly into Yes/Wakeman here at Gonzzo Daily, so we pounce on every scrap of news like Prudence the Gonzo Daily bulldog pouncing on a biscuit...

There is something about the ethos of Jefferson Starship that I, for one, find refreshing in these increasingly cut-throat and capitalistic times. Old hippies like us should stand together man!http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.com/2012/06/share-your-jefferson-starship-pix.html

Another great review for Rick Wakeman's new Live CD. I actually find it rather pleasant to find how many reviewers seem to share my opinions about things. Maybe my time has come and I am no longer a lone voice singing in the cultural wilderness..

Trevor Rabin gets a prestigious award, and a video tribute from Jon Anderson. No-one can say that he doesn't deserve it! Congratulations Trevor from all at the Gonzo Daily...

I am getting ever more impressed by the work of Helen McCookerybook. She is an intriguing artist, and one whose work really does deserve to reach a wider audience, which is why I shamelessly plug her on the Gonzo Daily at every chance I get.

That's about it for today. I shall be back tomorrow, and being sunday, it will be in rhyme...
