WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

Unlike some of our competitors we are not going to try and blackmail you into donating by saying that we won't continue if you don't. That would just be vulgar, but our lives, and those of the animals which we look after, would be a damn sight easier if we receive more donations to our fighting fund. Donate via Paypal today...

MYSTERY FISH

FROM YOUTUBE: two week holiday at the Baron Palms Hotel in Sharm El Sheihk, June 2010 trying out my new camera PENTAX WS80. Mostly taken on the reef just outside the hotel, others were taken whilst on a trip to Tiran Island.I would like to know the name of the mystery spotted fish with the long feathery tail, it is not on any of my ID sheets.

CFZ ARCHIVING PROJECT: Forteana Part 15

As you know, Oll has been working on the archiving project since early February 2009 and he is now working on a general mish-mash of a section known as `General Forteana`. This fifteench collection once again really is a general mishmash of completely uncategoriseable stuff, including the laziest dentist, a fat bloke proving how gigantothermy works, exploding breast implants causing a car crash, big cats in Cyprus, and a heartywarming story of how two southern right whales vandalised a shark net in order to free their calf.. It doesn't get much better than this. Good stuff.

MARY EVANS R.I.P

Mary Evans founded the `Mary Evans Picture Library` in 1964 together with her husband Hilary, a noted fortean. It was one of the most important picture libraries in the UK.

Sadly Mary Evans died on the morning of 29 June. She had been suffering from Alzheimer's for the last four years, and died peacefully in her sleep. Further details of Mary's life can be found here.

LIZ CLANCY: Ugandan Angel

While proofing the forthcoming The Inhumanoids! by B. M. Nunnelly for CFZ Press, I came across the following account.

'Another aerial Inhumanoid, this time of a different type, was seen in Uganda between Kinyara and Kitanosie, in 1995. The ‘Red Angel’ was described as a human-looking winged entity with curly blond hair. The ‘angel’ was immersed in a glowing halo effect with a shimmering face and stood an incredible twelve feet tall. It reportedly faced the witness twice (?) before gliding away.'

Watch out for this book's imminent publication, announced on these hallowed pages....

OLL LEWIS: Yesterday's News Today

http://cryptozoologynews.blogspot.com/

On this day in 1844 the last known pair of great auks were brutally killed by Jón Brandsson, Sigurður Ísleifsson and Ketill Ketilsson who, if there is such a place as Hell are hopefully receiving the hot poker treatment as we speak.

And now, the news:
