WELCOME TO THE CFZ BLOG NETWORK: COME AND JOIN THE FUN

Half a century ago, Belgian Zoologist Bernard Heuvelmans first codified cryptozoology in his book On the Track of Unknown Animals.

The Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) are still on the track, and have been since 1992. But as if chasing unknown animals wasn't enough, we are involved in education, conservation, and good old-fashioned natural history! We already have three journals, the largest cryptozoological publishing house in the world, CFZtv, and the largest cryptozoological conference in the English-speaking world, but in January 2009 someone suggested that we started a daily online magazine! The CFZ bloggo is a collaborative effort by a coalition of members, friends, and supporters of the CFZ, and covers all the subjects with which we deal, with a smattering of music, high strangeness and surreal humour to make up the mix.

It is edited by CFZ Director Jon Downes, and subbed by the lovely Lizzy Bitakara'mire (formerly Clancy), scourge of improper syntax. The daily newsblog is edited by Corinna Downes, head administratrix of the CFZ, and the indexing is done by Lee Canty and Kathy Imbriani. There is regular news from the CFZ Mystery Cat study group, and regular fortean bird news from 'The Watcher of the Skies'. Regular bloggers include Dr Karl Shuker, Dale Drinnon, Richard Muirhead and Richard Freeman. The CFZ bloggo is updated daily, and there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. Come and join us...

BIGFOOT ON FLYER FOR SPAM MUSEUM

Unexpected sighting of the Patterson bigfoot image which turned up in my e-mail inbox today courtesy of those jolly nice folks on the forteana Usenet list. This is a bona fide flyer for the Spam Museum...

And it had the advantage of making me laugh.

OLL LEWIS: Yesterday’s News Today

http://cryptozoologynews.blogspot.com/

It’s cryptozoology news update time once more and also film of the week day. Well, yesterday I offered the opportunity to guess today’s film recommendation based on the song of the week. I have been literally underwhelmed by the response, either that or there are still a few comments in the moderation queue, oh well. Anyway, the film was not ‘Back to the future’ as some people may have guessed, but is ‘American Psycho’. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0144084/ (not suitable for a jolly family film night instead of ‘Lilo & Stitch’ by the way). And here is the news:

Hero mutt protects dog buddy from traffic onslaught
Police in Michigan looking for a cougar find a toy
World's tallest dog loses a leg
New 'super rats' evolve resistance to poison
Bird given own private Indonesian beach
Woman seeks love for randy emu
Seahorse nursed back to health after seagull dropped it in garden
Meet the real star of Cannes: Midge the one-eyed cat from Yorkshire with a passion for sprinting
Meet the lawnmower on legs: Why wallabies are taking over England's gardens in leaps and bounds
Hedgehog hunter applications flood in

Why did the hedgehog cross the road?
To visit his flat-mate.

(yes, the old ones are always the best)
